The Production

The first production of Cibo was in October, 2009, in anticipation of Cibo's launch on World Food Day.

Cibo was mixed at Norma's Bakery in Chilliwack and packaged in 8 kg tubs.  Reporters from Shaw Cable and the Chilliwack Progress were present to documents the event.

Following a request by Global Aid Network to provide 5,000 kg of Cibo, Food For Famine Society sought a larger production facility.  Nanak Foods of Surrey generously donated the use of their large production facility, and Nanak staff and volunteers assisted in the production of the first large batch of Cibo.

On December 22, 2009, a 40ft container loaded with supplies for eight orphanages in North Korea left Langley.  Packed inside were 10 pallets of Cibo, each containing sixty 8kg buckets.

January 12, 2010, a 7.0 magnitude earthquake hit the already improverished island nation of Haiti.  With food supplies scarce, the need for Cibo would be great.  Food for Famine requested an small emergency production of Cibo at Norma's bakery.

Once again, Nanak Foods of Surrey generously offered their facilities to produce Food For Famine's largest batch of Cibo.  With the help of donors and volunteers, and after two days of production, 13,800 kgs of Cibo was ready to be sent by container to Haiti.
